Fueling a Healthy Start: How We Supported at Lompoc’s Health Fair

Written by Ivette Fuentes | August 16, 2024

The Back-to-School Health Fair is a vibrant community event that is hosted at three health care locations throughout Santa Barbara County. Bringing together over 50 organizations, all dedicated to supporting local families as they prepared for the upcoming school year. The event provided a wide array of services and programs, including health screenings, educational booths, and opportunities to learn and connect with various social service organizations and healthcare providers. These events are free and open to anyone in the community who wishes to join.

Our Partner Services Team here at the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County got to play an active role, setting up a welcoming booth where we shared essential information about our programs, services, and distribution sites. But we didn’t stop there—we also handed out fresh, delicious strawberries and a variety of produce, ensuring that attendees not only left with useful knowledge and resources but also with nutritious food to enjoy at home.

The fair was a wonderful opportunity for us to engage with our community, offering both immediate support and long-term resources to promote health and well-being. As families navigated the many offerings of the day, we were thrilled to be part of an event that truly made a difference in preparing children and their families for a successful school year!
